Insert Key Solutions will be presenting Nuclear In-processing eXpress (NIX) at the 2008 Access Authorization and Fitness-for-duty Workshop in Charleston, SC on July 8th-11th, 2008. 

NIX is a commercially available software package that tracks and automates the badging and training activities required for granting unescorted access at a nuclear facility.  The tool includes interfaces to the Personnel Access Data System (PADS), industry credit checking tools, badge production stations, fitness for duty testing processes, visitor arrival stations and file storage systems.  Its web based approach allows for personal history collection prior to arrival and also provides an interface for external background investigators to collect information in the tool.  In addition it handles a fleet approach to behavioral observation programs, annual supervisor reviews, and random drug testing.  With its scheduling algorithms and in-depth workflow tracking NIX is able to minimize the amount of time it takes for individuals to attain unescorted access as well as manage the expirations of access.
